Green Building and California’s Mandatory Green Building Standards Code
The Department of Finance estimates that California is in need of $500 billion worth of infrastructure in the next two decades. In the face of limited financial resources to pay for construction of new facilities and renovation of existing ones, the debate in California over the desirability of public-private partnerships (commonly referred to as a PPP or P3) is at an all time high.

Implementing 4D Schedules in Construction
The concept of 4D scheduling has been discussed in great length and has become generally accepted as a tool that can provide value throughout the construction lifecycle. In recent years this concept has transitioned into practice in construction projects across the United States, including here in Southern California.

California Health Care Facilities Program – The Experiment
This unprecedented program utilized several unique delivery methods, many of which are relatively experimental within the construction industry. An appropriate analogy for this program would be a science experiment where more than one variable is changed simultaneously.

Free Money!!!
The Student Outreach and scholarship committee recently completed this year’s scholarship application and evaluation process. 32 Students from 6 schools submitted very competitive applications to be evaluated by a panel of CMAA Southern California Board Members. $42,000 (the most ever!) was awarded to 14 very deserving students at the May 6 Awards Banquet.
